We all need to be alone sometimes as much as being accompanied. How often do we consider temporarily delegating our responsibilities to others and reserving that valuable time for our own enjoyment? We need that space to grow, to nourish ourselves, to be, to do nothing in particular. We are too used to the feeling that we must do something at all times, rather than just be.
The Hermit shows us that moments of solitude must not necessarily constitute a bitter experience: loneliness gives us the opportunity to analyze ourselves in depth and examine our lives, our feelings and emotions. Much of the world's most beautiful poetry, literature and music was created under these emotional states. Everything that is great springs from the gloom of these emotions.
There comes a point in life where we begin to question the obvious. We feel that there is a deeper reality and we begin to look for it. This is a lonely search for the answers are not found in the outside world, but in ourselves.
In readings, the hermit often suggests a need for time alone, a period of reflection when distractions are limited. In times of action and high energy, it represents the immobile center that must be created for balance. It may also indicate that withdrawal or withdrawal is recommended for the time being. In addition, the hermit can represent the search of all kinds, especially for a deeper understanding or the truth of a situation. Seek, and you will find, we have been told, and that is why the hermit also serves as a guide. We can receive help from wise teachers and, in turn, help others as we progress.
